CharBoy's
Growth Audit

We went through charboys.com the way a health-minded shopper would, then checked what Google, Semrush and Google's speed test say about it. This report shows what is holding back online sales, what to fix first, and a monthly plan built around revenue, not just traffic.

01 · The short version

Great products, 600+ stores, but Google shoppers cannot find you online.

What we found in one minute

  • When someone searches "zero sugar marinade", Google shows G Hughes, Rib Rack, Walden Farms and Primal Kitchen. Charboys is not on page one, not in Google Shopping, and not in Google's AI answer.
  • Semrush shows about 79 visits a month from Google, and almost all of it comes from people typing the brand name. The site ranks for zero product searches like marinade, rub, low sodium or zero sugar.
  • On phones, product text overlaps, headings are cut off, and a Chat bar covers the page. Google's mobile speed test scores the home page 35 out of 100.
  • The same flavor lives on up to four public pages, including a draft called "flavor-template" and pages named "copy-of-rosemary".

The good news: the products, the story and the retail reach are strong. Most of what is missing is fixable, and every fix in this plan is tied to sales.

Shoppers searching for what you sell see your competitors

Urgent

We searched zero sugar marinade on Google (US results). Google's AI answer recommended G Hughes and Rib Rack. The shopping blocks showed G Hughes, Rib Rack, Uncle Dougie's, Walden Farms, Primal Kitchen and Ray's, with prices, stars and "free delivery" tags. Charboys did not appear anywhere on the page, even though "zero sugar" is in your own site title.

Why it matters
  • These shoppers already want your exact product. They just do not know your name yet.
  • Shopping listings show price and stars before anyone clicks, so the sale is often decided on Google.
What we will do
  • Connect your Wix store to Google Merchant Center so products appear in free Shopping listings.
  • Rebuild product and flavor pages around buying searches: sugar free marinade, low sodium marinade, jerk marinade, Greek marinade.
  • Add product details Google reads: price, stock, reviews, ingredients.

Google only finds you when people already know your name

Urgent

Semrush shows 46 keywords and about 79 visits a month. The top ones are "charboy" and "char boy". The only non-brand searches that bring visits are wholesale terms like "wholesale condiments". Not one marinade, rub or sauce search sends shoppers to a product page.

When we searched the brand, the results looked healthy, but there was no Google Business Profile panel on the right with reviews, hours and photos.

Why it matters
  • Brand searches only capture people who already found you in a store.
  • Growth comes from people who have never heard of Charboys yet.
What we will do
  • Build a keyword map: one clear page for each flavor and each buying search.
  • Set up and verify a Google Business Profile for the brand.
  • Track which searches turn into orders, not just visits.

Product pages are hard to read on a phone

Urgent

On an iPhone-size screen, the description on the Greek Marinade and Rub page runs in large text with lines sitting on top of each other. There are no customer reviews, no nutrition panel and no "pairs well with" suggestions near the Add to Cart button. On the Greek flavor page, "100% Natural Herbs & Spices" is cut off at the left edge, and "Why You'll Love It" is hidden behind the Chat bar. The same cut-off badge also shows on desktop.

Why it matters
  • Most food and grocery shoppers browse on phones.
  • Messy text on a health product makes people doubt the claims.
What we will do
  • Fix text size and line spacing on all product pages.
  • Move the Chat button to a small corner icon and remove the app banner on product pages.
  • Add reviews, a nutrition image and a "Buy the bundle and save" block to each product page.

The mobile home page is covered up

Urgent

On a phone, a "Join us on the App" banner sits on top of the logo and a Chat bar covers part of the main headline. The Chat bar stays over the content all the way down the page. The first thing a new visitor sees is a login icon and a cart, not what makes Charboys different.

What we will do
  • Remove the app banner for first-time visitors, shrink the Chat button, and lead with one clear line: "15-minute marinades. Zero sugar. Real flavor."
  • Put a Shop Now button and star rating in the first screen.

These hold back rankings and trust

F-05

One flavor, four public pages

Repair soon

Greek has /greek, /copy-of-rosemary (titled "Greek"), /marinades/greek, plus a product page. Rosemary has /rosemary and /marinades/flavor-template. Jerk and Smoky Homestyle each have three versions, including /copy-of-rosemary-1 and /copy-of-rosemary-2. All of them are in the sitemap. The pages also disagree: some say "Zero Sugar", others say "<1g Sugar".

Why it matters
  • Google splits its trust across copies and may show the weakest one.
  • Different sugar claims on the same product can confuse buyers. The claim should match the label.
What we will do
  • Keep one strong page per flavor and redirect the rest.
  • Remove the template and copy pages from the site and sitemap.
  • Use one sugar claim everywhere that matches the package.

Slow on phones

Repair soon

Google Lighthouse (the engine behind PageSpeed Insights) scored the mobile home page 35 out of 100. First text shows after about 4 seconds, the main image after about 14 seconds, and the page weighs about 3.5 MB. Accessibility (92) and SEO basics (100) scored well, so the fix is mainly images and apps.

What we will do
  • Compress and resize the large banner and product images.
  • Remove Wix apps that are not earning sales (app banner, unused widgets).
  • Load the chat tool only after the page is ready.

The home page does not tell Google what you sell

Repair soon

The site title in Google is "Charboys | zero sugar". The first screen says "Make Delicious Meals in Minutes" in small text over a photo, but the page's main heading in the code is an empty character, so Google gets no clear signal about what the page sells. Below that is a long block of general text, and there are no customer reviews anywhere on the page.

What we will do
  • New title: "Low Sodium, Zero Sugar Marinades & Sauces | CharBoy's".
  • A clear main headline, a reviews strip, and "As sold at Jewel-Osco, Kroger, Whole Foods, Walmart" near the top.
  • Shorter copy that points to best sellers and bundles.

Pages Google shows do not help sell

Repair soon

Google's saved list for the site shows pages titled just "Greek" and "Rosemary", plus a Newsletter Registration page. About half of the pages we checked (34 of 62) have no Google description. The 13 recipe posts run 80 to 420 words, and most are under 150.

What we will do
  • Clear titles and descriptions for every page, written to earn the click.
  • Turn recipes into full recipe pages with steps, cook times and recipe code, so they can show with photos in Google.
  • Link every recipe to the exact product to buy.

No contact page, and the cart leaves money on the table

Repair soon

There is no Contact link in the menu, and charboys.com/contact shows a 404. About lives at /about-3. When we added a marinade to the cart, the side cart showed that shipping is calculated at checkout, even though the home page talks about free shipping on marinade orders over $6. There was no bundle offer or "you may also like" block.

What we will do
  • Add a Contact page and move About to /about with a redirect.
  • Show the free shipping promise in the cart and add a bundle upsell to raise order value.

06 · You vs. shelf rivals

Who took the "zero sugar marinade" shopper

From the live Google Shopping results we recorded in Clip 1 (US, September 2026). Star ratings and review counts are the ones Google showed.

Rib Rack shows up with 43 reviews and a 3.6 rating. You do not need thousands of reviews to get into these results. You need a product feed, clear product data and a steady flow of reviews.

07 · What is working

Strong foundations to build on

  • A real point of difference: 15-minute marinades, low sodium, gluten free, no fillers.
  • Sold in 600+ stores with names shoppers trust: Jewel-Osco, Kroger, Whole Foods, Walmart.
  • A memorable founder story: a US Army and Navy veteran who started the brand in Chicago.
  • 243 other websites already link to you, and Google's AI summary describes your marinades correctly.
  • Wholesale page already ranks on page one for "wholesale condiments".
  • Secure https, a working sitemap, and good accessibility and SEO basic scores.
08 · How revenue grows

Our goal: double online revenue from search in 12 months

Doubling from a small starting point is realistic when the product is already good and the site is simply not being found. Here is where the extra sales come from. We track every step in revenue, not just visits.

More buyers find you

Free Google Shopping listings plus product pages that rank for sugar free, low sodium, jerk, Greek and rosemary marinade searches. These are people ready to buy today.

More visitors buy

Clean mobile product pages, reviews next to Add to Cart, a real headline and faster loading. Fixing a broken mobile page often lifts sales more than new traffic does.

Each order is bigger

Bundle upsells in the cart, a visible free shipping goal and recipes that link to 2 or 3 flavors at once.

Shoppers come back

Your free sample form and newsletter turned into a simple recipe email series that brings repeat orders.

Stores get a boost too

A "Find us near you" page for each retailer (Jewel-Osco, Kroger, Hy-Vee) catches "near me" searches and sends buyers to the shelf.

Links that build trust

Veteran-owned and women-owned business features, food bloggers, and recipe sites that link to your products.

CheckpointWhat you should see
Month 1Mobile pages fixed, duplicates cleaned up, sales tracking live, products submitted to Google Shopping.
Month 3Products showing in Shopping results, first non-brand product searches ranking, more add-to-carts per visit.
Month 6Several flavor pages on page one for buying searches, recipe pages bringing steady visitors, higher average order value.
Month 12Target: online revenue from search about double today's level, with the numbers in your monthly report.

This is a target, not a guarantee. Google, ad spend, pricing and stock all play a part. What we promise is the work, clear tracking of revenue from search, and a monthly report so you can see exactly what each month brings in.
